What is the Honeypot…

YANNI STONE & THE HONEYPOT TRAP

An Electrifying New Stage Production -Premiering July 2025

Welcome to the World of Yanni Stone

At 28, Lena is facing a quarter-life crisis. As she struggles to develop a bold new play for her grad program, she finds herself questioning love, sex, and self-worth. Through her titular character, Yanni Stone, and a reluctant trip back home to Waynesboro, GA, Lena is forced to navigate her past, confront old flames, and ultimately take control of her own narrative.

A sharp-witted and surreal coming-of-age story, Yanni Stone & the Honeypot Trap blends humor, heart, and a touch of magical realism to explore the intersections of identity, desire, and self-acceptance. This play challenges societal norms and redefines what it means to own one’s truth—whether in love, career, or personal discovery.

Help Us Bring This Vision to Life

We are thrilled to be bringing Yanni Stone & the Honeypot Trap to the stage in August 2025, but we need your support to make it happen.

Our creative team—playwright Anterior Leverett, director Damian Lockhart, and producer Amer-Marie Woods—is working tirelessly in pre-production, carefully mapping out our budget and logistics to ensure a high-quality, independent theater production.

We aim to raise $15,000 to fund:
Securing a Venue – Finding the perfect space to bring Yanni’s world to life.
Set & Production Design – Creating a visually compelling experience.
Actor & Crew Stipends – Ensuring fair compensation for our talented team.
Technical Elements – Lighting, sound, and special effects to elevate the show.

Why This Play Matters

Yanni Stone & the Honeypot Trap was originally conceived for Synchronicity Theatre’s Art Incubator: Stripped Bare, where it was selected from hundreds of submissions for a coveted reading. It then went on to achieve the same competitive distinction at Hush Harbor/Essential Theatre and National Black Theatre, standing out among countless plays for its compelling storytelling. The journey continued with a fully staged production at SheATL Festival at 7 Stages Theatre in 2024, once again rising above hundreds of submissions. Each reading and performance sold out dozens of shows, drawing in hundreds of audience members and proving that Lena’s story deeply resonates. Now, we are more committed than ever to bringing this production to an even larger stage.

With your generous contribution, we can make this dream a reality. Every dollar counts, and every share helps spread the word!
